Training artists to provide free art classes in schools.
I managed education programs for youth and adults at Root Division, a nonprofit that empowers artists, promotes community service, and inspires youth in the Bay Area through engagement in the visual arts. This role required me to do a little bit of everything. Think teaching workshops, building class scheduling systems, securing donations for yearly fundraisers, building partnerships with school administrators, tracking budget and program goals, and so much more. But my favorite was getting to train artists in classroom management and curriculum design so they could in turn provided free, critical after-school arts education classes to over 1,000 students (grades K-8) in the community each year.
